Scott Beattie’s third DIY Seasonal Cocktail Class was his best one yet. Not only did our superstar bartender teach the sold out group how to make some knockout holiday drinks – like the Hot Buttered Rum, a Classic Punch, and the Lion’s Tail – but he spiced things up with a “Hideous Holiday Sweater Contest.”

it's a toss up, but the moving gerbil on the green sweater won us over
Now, as you can see, with one horrible sweater after the next, it was nearly impossible to pick the worst of the worst. But what ultimately won us over was the gerbil on the green sweater. It’s battery operated and moves. Or shall we say, shimmies. And with that nifty little accessory, fun loving Sonoma County publicist Nina Laramore scored a free dinner for two at Spoonbar. She actually made the sweater the night before, so kudos to Nina!
For those of you who couldn’t make it, we wanted to share Scott’s recipe for The Lion’s Tail. This holiday cocktail is now featured on the Spoonbar menu, so come on down. Oh, and keep your eye out for the next DIY Cocktail Class featuring Winter Citrus Drinks. Click here for details.
The Lion’s Tail
2 oz Black Maple Hill Bourbon
3/4 oz Fresh Lime Juice
3/4 oz St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram
1/4 oz Agave Nectar
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Garnish: Lime zest or wheel
Add all ingredients to an empty mixing glass, add enough ice to fill the glass completely, shake hard for 7 seconds, and double strain into a martini or coupe glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.

First things first… THANKS for your support in helping us reach 1000 Facebook fans so quickly. Not bad for a little boutique that’s barely been open two weeks, right? Well, to show our appreciation, we’ve decided to have some fun with you. And what better way than with a Mad Libs contest that whisks you back to simpler times, when life was all about PB&J with the crusts cut off.
